VR180 · side-by-side · up to 8K

Step inside the scene.

Not a video you watch — a place you look around in. Works in a headset, on a phone with a cardboard holder, and right here in this browser with nothing installed.

Why there are two pictures

A VR file holds one frame per eye, side by side. Your headset shows the left half to your left eye and the right half to your right eye, and your brain does the rest. Drag the handle to pull them apart.

RIGHT EYE

Together, this is one flat-looking picture.

Find your device

Pick what you own and follow the steps. Anything that plays a standard side-by-side MP4 works, so treat this as a guide rather than a limit.

Standalone headset

Meta Quest 3 · 3S · Quest Pro

Best picture — plays 8K

These decode both AV1 and HEVC in hardware, which is what lets an 8K clip actually arrive as 8K.

Follow these steps

  1. Open this site in the headset's own browser and press play — that already works, with no app.
  2. For the sharpest picture, install DeoVR from the Meta Store, then press "Watch in VR" on any clip.

Standalone headset

Meta Quest 2

Plays 8K via HEVC

The Quest 2 has no AV1 decoder, so it takes our HEVC version instead. That version also goes up to 8K, so you lose nothing — the headset simply picks the one it can read.

Follow these steps

  1. Browser route works out of the box.
  2. Or install DeoVR from the Meta Store and press "Watch in VR".

Quest driven by a PC

Quest over Link or Virtual Desktop

PC players on a standalone headset

Connecting a Quest to a PC turns it into a SteamVR headset, so everything in the row above applies to it too.

Follow these steps

  1. Connect with a Link cable or Virtual Desktop, start SteamVR, then open your player of choice.

Android and iPhone

Any phone + a cardboard holder

Real 3D for the price of a coffee

Built into this site — no app at all. The picture splits into two, one per eye, and you look around by turning your head. This is genuine stereo depth, not a flat picture split down the middle.

Follow these steps

  1. Open a clip on your phone and press play.
  2. Press the goggles button in the player bar.
  3. Slide the phone into the holder. Tap the screen to come back out.
  4. Already bought a clip? Your VR library has a "Watch on this phone" button that skips straight to this.

Android and iPhone

Just a phone, no holder

Look around by dragging

You still get to look around the scene, just without the depth. It is the quickest way to see what a clip is like.

Follow these steps

  1. Open a clip, press play, drag with your finger.

PC headset, via SteamVR

Valve Index · HTC Vive · Windows Mixed Reality

Full resolution, biggest player choice

These run through SteamVR on your PC. Every serious VR video player is on Steam, so you can pick the one you like and open a clip you downloaded.

Follow these steps

  1. Install SteamVR, then a VR video player from the Steam store.
  2. Using DeoVR? Open it once after installing. On Windows it only claims the "Watch in VR" link the first time it runs — before that the button has nothing to open.
  3. DeoVR on Windows also needs a codec pack — install LAVFilters or Microsoft's HEVC Video Extension, or it opens and plays nothing.
  4. Any other player (PLAY'A, HereSphere, Whirligig): download the clip from your VR library and open the file there. Only DeoVR offers a direct hand-off link.
  5. The Windows app has no AV1 decoder yet, so it takes our HEVC version. That one also goes up to 8K, so you lose nothing.
The DeoVR app on Windows. "Watch in VR" hands your clip straight to it. The thumbnails here are DeoVR's own catalogue and are blurred.

Standalone headset

Apple Vision Pro

Browser route works

Safari on the Vision Pro plays our clips directly, with nothing installed. DeoVR now has a Vision Pro app as well if you prefer a dedicated player.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the clip page and press play.
  2. Or install DeoVR from the App Store and use "Watch in VR".

Standalone headset

PICO 4 · PICO 4 Ultra

Same route as a Quest

PICO runs the same kind of Android-based system, so both the browser route and DeoVR behave the way they do on a Quest.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the site in the PICO browser and press play.
  2. Or install DeoVR from the PICO store and use "Watch in VR".

Standalone headset (Android XR)

Samsung Galaxy XR

Browser route works

Android XR runs a modern Chrome, so this site plays in the headset's own browser with nothing installed. It decodes AV1 in hardware, which is what an 8K clip needs to arrive as 8K.

Follow these steps

  1. Open this site in the headset browser and press play.
  2. Or install DeoVR from the Play Store and use "Watch in VR".

Console headset

PlayStation VR2

Works via the download

There is no browser route here. Download the file and play it with an app that reads side-by-side VR180.

Follow these steps

  1. Download the clip from your VR library.
  2. Play it with a media app that supports VR180 side-by-side, setting those two options by hand if asked.
  3. Connected to a PC with the PSVR2 adapter? Then everything under "PC & SteamVR" applies to you instead.

Ordinary computer

Windows · Mac · Linux

No install, drag to look

The clip plays in the page and you look around with the mouse. Flat screen, so no depth — but everything else works, including the quality menu.

Follow these steps

  1. Open a clip and press play. Drag to look around.

Will your connection carry it?

VR files are large. This measures your line against the exact versions we serve, so the answer is not a number in the abstract but which version will actually play without stalling.
